Seafest waves in this weekend to Plymouth’s waterfront with live entertainment, food and craft stalls, activities on and off the water, and includes a dog show, hosted by local dogs and cats charity Gables, and the end of season ‘doggy dip’ at Tinside Lido, promising a pawesome time for all the family!

Jon Walton, CEO, and Kim Downer, Business Liaison Manager, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership:

“Seafest is a festival for all the family, and by that we mean our pawesome doggy pals too! Our friends at Gables will be hosting one of their popular dog shows at Commercial Wharf on Sunday afternoon, followed by the end of season ‘doggy dip’ at Tinside Lido – it’s going to be barking mad and we love it!”

Stephanie Lewis, Head of Business and Commercial Development, Plymouth Active Leisure:

“Hosting a doggy swim on the final day of the season at Tinside Lido is a fantastic way to engage with a wider community; inviting pet owners to enjoy our iconic space in a fun and inclusive way.’’

Claire Sparkes, General Manager, Gables:

“Bring your salty sea dogs down for our fun family dog show at Commercial Wharf on the Barbican at 3pm this Sunday 15th September! Including lots of exciting classes like ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Best Dressed Sea-themed Pooch.’ We’ll also have our stall there stocked full of lucky dips for dogs, cats and kids! Along with lots of other bargains and handmade crafts to raise funds for the animals in our care. We can’t wait to sea you there!”

This year, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership are partnering with Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Sound National Marine Park to make the festival even bigger than ever. The Plymouth Sound National Marine Park is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

With activities and entertainment right across the waterfront from Bretonside to Royal William Yard, visitors will have an ocean of fun, free and subsidised opportunities to experience Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City as part of Seafest.

The Gables Seafest Dog Show will take place at Commercial Wharf at 3pm on Sunday 15th September. Pre-registration is available via the Gables gazebo on the Wharf or enter at the dog show ring as the classes are called. Entry is £2 per class per dog.

Seafest is made possible thanks to the businesses of the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership alongside sponsors. Seafest’s headline sponsor is Ocean MINI. Ventons Devon Cyder and The Early Bird are the Seafest’s official bar and entertainment programme sponsors respectively.

To ensure easy access for all, Seafest will be well-connected by public transport including subsidised ferry tickets to Mount Batten and Mount Edgcumbe (subject to availability), and the free ‘Shark and Ride’ shuttle bus service, provided by Plymouth Citybus, will stop at all Seafest locations along the waterfront from 10am until 4pm on both days. All public transport is dog friendly.
