Great news, Plymouth has been awarded the prestigious Purple Flag accreditation for its evening and night-time economy for another year! The accreditation aims to raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 5pm to 5am.
Continuing the work in Plymouth, the application is reviewed by a number of assessors and ratified through a panel. It was noted that;
‘Plymouth continues to impress as a leading light in Night Time Economy (NTE) management. It is a shining endorsement for the partnership in Plymouth that the high level strategic commission addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in the city noted that due to the excellent work being achieved by the partnership, there were no recommendations for the evening and Night Time Economy (ENTE) made by the commission’.
Highlights from Plymouth’s submission include the provision of late night transport, the continued work and secured funding for the Safe Bus, and the work on VAWG through the anti-spiking protocols and increased training schemes across various ENTE stakeholders.
