The ever-popular Plymouth Pirates Weekend, returns to Britain’s Ocean City this Saturday and Sunday for the 13th year running.
Hosted by Plymouth Waterfront Partnership this year’s swashbuckling weekend promises to be the biggest and best yet, with a packed programme of a huge range of free, and paid for, family-friendly activities stretching across the entire waterfront, from the historic Barbican to the Royal William Yard.

“Excitement really is building now as we look set to host the 13th Plymouth Pirates Weekend – each year we aspire to build on previous events, based on customer and business feedback, and we truly believe that this year could be the best yet. We’ve got Galeón Andalucía as a backdrop on the Barbican at Commercial Wharf, a packed entertainment schedule available right across the waterfront and we have also provided a free shuttle bus in partnership with Plymouth Citybus to ensure visitors can reach everywhere easily and sustainably.
“These events take a huge amount of planning, logistics and the occasional sleepless night(s), but they are absolutely worth it to ensure our waterfront businesses benefit from footfall, awareness and the fantastic atmosphere large-scale weekends such as Pirates bring to the city. Plymouth is a hugely collaborative city, without so many supportive partners this event simply would not happen.”
Plymouth Pirates Weekend will be brimming with entertainment, from talented performers and roaming pirates to lively music, sea shanty bands and captivating shows right across the waterfront from The Parade on the Barbican, Mayflower Steps, Commercial Wharf, West Hoe Park to Royal William Yard.
The Pirates Weekend Trail returns – pick up a free trail map included in the Plymouth Pirates Weekend entertainment leaflet from the Tourist Information Centre. Complete the trail and return your answers to the Tourist Information Centre to claim your prize.
And, as a first for the weekend, and for the UK, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership will host a Pirate Fun Run on Sunday in partnership with Taurus Events.
