Ahoy there, mateys! Returning to Plymouth next week, and especially for Plymouth Pirates Weekend is the Galeón Andalucía.
This impressive full-size replica of a 17th Century Spanish galleon is a floating museum, and will be open each day of Plymouth Pirates Weekend for visitors to explore. She will be alongside on the Barbican Landing Stage from Wednesday 15th until Saturday 19th May.
The visit to the galleon consists of a self-guided walking tour. Once on board, visitors are free to wander its decks, talk to the actual crew members (real sailors living on board), and enjoy dozens of interactive exhibits, videos, projections and historical documents.

Accompanying Galeón Andalucía this year is the Pascual Flores, an original example of a “pailebote” (Spanish for pilot’s boat) which was dedicated to the export of fruit, salt and general cargo, both in Mediterranean ports and anchorages and on the North and West coasts of Africa. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore this original vessel. No walking the plank though.

Booking for Galeón Andalucía is available in advance via https://tickets.velacuadra.es/selection/timeslotpass?productId=10229011586238 or on the day at the entrance to the Barbican Landing Stage. Visitors will be able to visit the Pascual Flores for free by showing an El Galeon ticket, but will need to pay to get to the vessel which will be berthed on the Cattewater visitor pontoons by water taxi from the Barbican Landing Stage. Water taxi charges will apply to visit.
Both vessels provide a perfect complement to Plymouth Pirates Weekend, especially the incredibly impressive Galeón Andalucía. Visitors will truly feel transported back in time as they explore this magnificent vessel alongside the vibrant pirate themed entertainment taking place across the waterfront as part of the weekend.
